About Pam Fluttert
I live in a small Ontario town with my husband, two daughters, and two dogs (Bella, a schnoodle, and Leroy, a miniature schnauzer). My current home is ideally close to my family, hometown of Stratford (yes, the same city Justin Bieber comes from), and my two horses.
In High School, I wrote and illustrated a pre-school book during a creative writing course. My teacher took me around to different public schools to read the book to the kids and they really enjoyed it. This sparked an interest in writing, but I didn't have much time for it while pursuing my Bachelors degree.
After graduating, I eventually registered for a course to write magazine articles through the Institute of Children's Literature. I'm a very active reader myself, so I viewed this as an opportunity to reach out to the imagination of our youth and open a world of creativity and possibilities for them. I registered for a second course to write a novel.
My first young adult contemporary fiction novel, UNTIL TODAY, proved to be therapeutic for myself and hopefully for my readers when it becomes available September 13, 2013. Using some of my own personal experiences with mental and sexual abuse, this novel's intent is to assist others who have been victims, or to help those who know victims. I'd like to especially thank Second Story Press for taking on a book of this nature and recognizing the importance of helping so many people who have suffered abuse.
Profession and Education
I hold the Project Management Professional (PMP) global credential, and I am a member of the Project Management Institute. I also have a Certificate in Project Management, and a Certificate in Business Analysis from the University of Waterloo.
I work full time at the University of Waterloo, where I originally started as a software developer. I have managed the Human Resources systems portfolio, applying project and portfolio management skills to a number of Information Technology (IT) tasks and projects for the University for a number of years. I am currently the Manager of the Project Management Office (PMO) in the University's Information Systems & Technology department.
In addition to being a long standing staff member of the University, I'm an alumnus, proudly holding a Bachelor of Mathematics Degree with a major in Business and Information Systems. I am currently working part time on the Management of Technology masters degree in the University's Management Science department.
In addition to reading and writing, I enjoy drawing and painting.
I try to spend as much time as possible horseback riding, and watching my daughters ride and compete. We own a Hunter Warmblood gelding, Zeke, who is a black Oldenburg x Canadian Sport Horse cross. We bought him as a four year old and my daughter has been training him and started competing with him for the 2013 show season. We also own a black and white paint gelding, Andy, who has many years of experience in the hunter show circuit.
